Leadership Around the World
Leadership Around the World was the theme attributed to the conference that took place in 2017. It was the first conference that took place since Student Leaders of Tomorrow separated from MSC ALOT to become its own organization. In 2017 the conference had around 25 delegates and was comprised of only high school seniors.

Bruce Brown
Bruce Brown is a Texas A&M Former Student Class of 2010 who joined the Department of Student Activities in 2016 after completing a Master of Arts at Bowling Green State University and working in higher education both in California and Ohio. Bruce is working towards his Ph.D. in Human Resource Development at Texas A&M. To this end, Bruce is passionate about leadership development, research, and maximizing positive impacts on the world. Being originally from NY and having traveled to all 7 continents, Bruce is happy to call Aggieland home with his wife and their dachshund.
Gen. John Van Alystne
General John Van Alstyne received his Bachelor in Business Administration from Texas A&M University, his Master of Science Degree in Military Science from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and his Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. Commissioned from Texas A&Mas an Infantry officer in 1966, his Company grade duty included assignments in the Berlin Brigade; the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam; the 82nd Airborne Division; and the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. He later served as G3, I Corps; Commander, 1st Brigade, 9th Infantry Division; Executive Officer to the DCSPER of the Army; and Chief of Staff, 24th Infantry Division during Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. General Van Alystyne held numerous leadership roles including Deputy Commanding General, Army Training and Doctrine Command and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy. Followingretirement in December 2002, General Van Alstyne served as Commandant of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University until January 2010. Currently, he is an executive professor at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Chad Nelson
Chad Nelson attended Lon Morris College where he competed in the 2009 NJCAA Cross Country National Qualifiers and was named a four-time NJCAA Academic All-American. After completing his associate’s degree, he then continued to complete his Bachelor Degree in Communication at Centenary College of Louisiana. Chad furthered his education at Texas A&M University and completed his Master’s Degree in Sport Management. While completing his master’s degree, he also obtained a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Dr. Nelson also has a Ph.D in Youth Development from Texas A&M which he received in 2019. He is currently an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences Department.
Dr. James Olson
Professor Olson received his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1969. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Bush School, where he teaches courses on intelligence, national security, and international crisis management. He served for over 25 years in the Directorate of Operations of the Central Intelligence Agency, mostly overseas in clandestine operations. In addition to several foreign assignments, he was Chief of
Counterintelligence at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Professor Olson has been awarded the Intelligence Medal of Merit, the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the Donovan Award, and several Distinguished Service Citations. He is the recipient of
awards from the Bush School and the Association of Former Students for excellence in teaching. Professor Olson is the author of Fair Play: The Moral Dilemmas of Spying, published by Potomac Books in 2006.
Dr. Henry Musoma
Dr. Musoma was born and raised in the Southern African nation of Zambia. He completed his high school education in Zambia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. In 1996, Dr. Musoma relocated to the United States to attend college, receiving both his Masters and Undergraduate degrees from Texas A&M University with a concentration in International Agricultural Development. Dr. Musoma completed his doctoral studies at Texas Christian University. He has served on the faculty at Texas A&M as a lecturer and academic advisor in the College of Agriculture. He also held the lectureship for
Texas A&M’s premier multi-disciplinary leadership program, the Academy for Future International Leaders. Dr. Musoma lectured in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M. He was also an adjunct professor in the George Bush School of Government and Public Service where he teaches a course in Leadership and Public Administration
in the Masters of International Affairs Program. Dr. Musoma currently teaches at Texas Christian University in their Management department.
Dr. Craig Rotter
Dr. Craig Rotter graduated from Texas A&M University in 1992 with a BBA in Business Administration. Dr. Rotter is a native of Poth, Texas and does not forget about his humble agricultural roots. As a result, Dr. Rotter went on to earn a BS in Agricultural Economics in 1996, an M.ED in Agricultural Leadership Education in 1998, and a Ph.D in Agricultural Leadership Education in 2004, all from Texas A&M University. Dr. Rotter has such a passion and dedication for Texas A&M University, and he has continuously served our university. Presently, Dr. Rotter serves as the Assistant Director of Academic Support Initiatives in the Texas A&M University, College Station campus.
Dan Rosenfield
Dan Rosenfield hails from Plano, Texas. Dan was the Executive Vice President of the Texas A&M Student Government Association, where he oversaw student fee allocations to 21 SGA organizations, supports the Student Body President, with their initiatives. In 2016, he served as Vice President of Public Relations, creating the first-ever SGA Tailgate, raising over $500 for Aggie veterans while engaging 250 students. Dan was a Platoon Leader and Career Readiness Officer of Squadron 17 in the Corps of Cadets. He was a former president of Texas A&M Hillel, the Jewish student organization on campus, where he established a student leadership development program and the first pro-Israel group on campus. Dan was also a Fish Camp Counselor, and is a recipient of the Buck Weirus Spirit Award. After graduation, Dan serves the class of 2017 as a Class Agent and is commissioned in the United States Air Force as a public affairs officer.
